Yonder Hill Wine Estate

Situated on the foothills of the Helderberg mountain between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, this small red wine producing estate has been receiving rave reviews for its wines in recent vintages.

Owner Frikkie Naude and winemaker David Lockley are both big fans of great St Emilions and this influence is evident in their rich ripe wines.

Along growing season, cool sea breezes from nearby False Bay, clever canopy management and green harvesting all help to produce the super ripe, balanced fruit David is striving for.

Yonder Hill Cabernet Merlot

Wonderfully rich plum and blackcurrant fruit flavours combine in this elegant, yet powerful red.

Yonder Hill Inanda

Bordeaux style at a fraction of the price. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It is oak aged for a dreamily smooth, mellow palate with superb notes of cassis, leather, cedar wood and dark chocolate. MATTHEW JUKES

  One of the most attractively labelled South African red, this stern, youthful Bordeaux blend has a touch of earthiness and 14 percent alcohol but should have considerable ageing potential. In fact I wouldn't drink it until next year although it won't be available for long.
Yonder Hill Merlot

Yonder Hill Shiraz Merlot

This powerful, elegant red combines concentrated, perfumed Shiraz flavours and aromas of raspberry, violets and white pepper, with a touch of earthy blackcurrant Merlot and some toasty oak. Hard to resist now, the wine will be sensational in three or so years.
