Sauvignon Blanc looks to be Cape white hope
Article on unprecedented demand for South African Sauvignon Blanc from major retailers.
Raisin Social offers a selection of Sauvignon Blanc wines, including Van Loveren, which retails for £4.79 at Tesco and sales are “very encouraging”, according to buyer Gerard Barnes. He adds, “South Africa is one of the few New World countries to offer good Sauvignon Blanc below £5 and hopefully we’ll be able to maintain the sub-£5 pricing. The short 2004 vintage will also make it more difficult to secure promotional volumes from South Africa this year.”
