Awards flood in for Raisin Social wines
Shingleback D Block Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 has just won one of Australia’s most prestigious awards, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy at the 2006 Royal Melbourne Wine Show.
International Wine & Spirits Competition 2006
Australian producer, Shingleback Wine from the McLaren Vale, is also one of only six wineries to be shortlisted for the coveted International Wine & Spirits Competition’s Australian Producer of the Year Trophy. Shingleback is one of the latest additions to Raisin Social’s portfolio.
The Shingleback Shiraz 2004 won a gold medal and the D Block Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2004, D Block Reserve Shiraz 2004, Shiraz 2003, Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 and Cellar Door 2004, all from the McLaren Vale, scooped silver medals.
Beyers Truter’s Beyerskloof 2001 Cabernet blend won a silver medal and was voted ‘Best in Class’. The BeyerskloofSynergy Reserve Cape blend 2002, Beyerskloof 2003 and Ambiance Special Reserve 2005 also won silver medals.
Neil EllisVineyard Selection Cabernet Sauvignon2000 also won a silver medal.
Decanter World Wine Awards 2006
The Beyerskloof Cabernet/Merlot 2001won a Regional Trophy in the Bordeaux Varietal Over £10 category at the Decanter World Wine Awards. Fewer than 100 of the 6,300 wines submitted were awarded regional trophies. Beyerskloof 2001 will be entered along with other Bordeaux Varietal Over £10 regional trophy winners into theInternational Bordeaux Varietal Over £10 Trophy.
Sileni’s Cellar Selection Saignée Rosé 2005, Exceptional Vintage Chardonnay 2005, Estate Selection ‘The Circle’ Semillon 2004and Estate Selection ‘The Sounds’ Sauvignon Blanc 2005 were all awardedsilver medals.
Historic Wines of the Cape’s La Motte wines won two silver medals – for La Motte Chardonnay 2004 and La Motte Shiraz 2003.
International Wine Challenge 2006
Cave de Cairanne’s Côteau Brûlé 2004, Sileni’s Estate Selection ‘The Circle’ Semillon 2004 and Westcorp International’s Goiya Shiraz/Pinotage 2004 were all awarded silver medals at this year’s International Wine Challenge.
